Beaver Brook Falls Wayside

We had loosely planned a route for our vacation to Pittsburg in order to capture Historical Markers, Covered Bridges, and other attractions, but Beaver Brook Falls Wayside was an unexpected treat along the way! Route 145 is a beautiful ride in its own right, so I made a pitch for all of us to make the trip south from Pittsburg and “Explore” that section of the Great North Woods Region in more depth.

I had never traveled this far into Northern New Hampshire until this vacation and was really looking forward to exploring all the great things I had heard from friends and coworkers.

45th Parallel Historical Marker

Route 145 took us right past one of two historical markers that celebrate the 45th Parallel location. It has been a fun challenge trying to capture these markers across the state. I will be adding many more from this trip through the White Mountains and up into this region of New Hampshire. Check them out on my Historical Marker section of the Resources page.

Check out the video above for some of our scenic road trip to the falls. Beaver Brook Falls Wayside is directly off Route 145 and with plenty of space for parking.

Route 145 is a pretty drive that takes you through rolling hills, pastureland, forests, and stunning mountain views. The “Poore Family Homestead Historic Farm Museum” is an attraction along the way that we put on our to-do list for the next trip.  Scroll to the bottom of the link above for tabs and additional information.

The route is slightly over 13 miles long and passes through the towns of Colebrook, Stewartstown, and Pittsburg.

Beaver Brook Falls Wayside

Before long, we found ourselves in front of the beautiful, 80-foot, cascading, Beaver Brook Falls and its scenic park and picnic area! The grassy area for viewing and picnicking leads to a bridge that crosses the brook to the falls. A network of trails adds options for exploring the area further.

The sound of the crystal clear water streaming down the ledges gave us one of many “ahh” moments during this trip. Adults, kids, and dogs were all enjoying the pools at the base of the falls. Some courageous teenagers followed a path to the upper section of the falls and were enjoying a birds-eye view of it all.

I hope the pictures and video convince you to “explore” Beaver Brook Falls or one of New Hampshire’s many other gems. The Granite State is blessed with many things to see and do!
