We are thrilled to share that the coach is home! Our beloved 170-year-old Concord coach is once again on display for the public. On Sunday, August 18, the coach was moved out of storage and into the rotunda of our Park Street building in downtown Concord.

The Concord coach, made by the Abbot-Downing Company of Concord, was one of New Hampshire’s chief products in the 19th century. Its innovative design made it the most popular stagecoach in the world.

This particular coach was built around 1855 and used on a mail line in Massachusetts until the 1890s. It was eventually purchased by the Boston & Maine Railroad, which put it on display in the Concord train station. When the train station was torn down in the late 1950s, the Boston & Maine donated the coach to the Society, which displayed it from 1957 to 2014. It has been in storage at a collections facility in Eagle Square for the past 10 years.

Stop in and see it during our open hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults. Children 18 and under are free, as are full-time students and active military personnel and their families with valid ID. No charge for members!

We had a great time fishing with Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing and Whale Watching out of Hampton yesterday! A coworker organized a great day out on the water for all of us.

The crew was great, the fishing was fun, the weather was amazing!

One more NHew Hampshire gem to share!
